From the past few times, a kitchen has become a crucial and a focal part of a house where the whole family comes together, eats and numerous household errands take place. As it has become so significant, it should be designed keeping all factors in mind particularly space and storage. Even though you know precisely what your kitchen must look like, building space is quite a task. Admittedly our kitchens get dirty from time to time no matter how much we clean them! We have several useful tips, and good to know information, to share on ways to maintain and clean kitchen cabinets without the fear of removing your finish or disturbing the integrity of your cabinetry.
WATER AND DISH SOAP SOLUTION
The best thing to use when doing a light cleaning on your kitchen cabinets is to use a solution of water and dish soap. It is mild enough to not ruin any finishes or paint but strong enough to remove most grime and build up.
WARM WATER & WHITE VINEGAR
Lately, people have creating their own, homemade cleaners so as to obtain best possible results. If you by any chance fall in that category then here is a quick homemade solution tip. You can mix a solution of one part warm water with one part white vinegar. The amount you mix will fluctuate with how many cabinets you have and how dirty they are; something similar to a gallon of water and a ¼ a cup of vinegar if your cabinets are not too dirty. If you feel you have a lot of build-up you can use a half and half solution of water and vinegar.
LET’S START CLEANING THE OUTSIDE
So there are certain steps to follow when you clean a cabinet. Submerge the entire sponge or wash rag into your cleaning solution. Wring out cleaning solution. Clean one whole side of cabinet. Rinse sponge or wash rag in bucket with water, then submerge again in cleaning solution. Repeat until cabinets are clean. Make sure you don’t miss out on the hardware. Kitchen cabinet hardware gets used just as much as your cabinetry and need some attention as well To avoid missing any small details on your knobs or the back of your handles, you can unscrew them and clean them in a separate solution and let dry completely before reattaching.
CLEANING THE INSIDE
Once you have given them a good cleaning on the outside it is time to clean the inside. Of course, empty the cabinet entirely when you are ready to clean it. Vacuuming the inside of your cabinets out if they have crumbs in them; it is quick, simple, and you’re not putting it all on your floors. Once that is done use a damp sponge or wash rag, and a fresh mixture of solution to wipe out the inside of the cabinets.
TIME TO POLISH
There are many different furniture and cabinet polishes like Oils, waxes, aerosols etc. This should be applied with a clean, dry towel or micro-fibre towel so as to not reapply any remaining dust that could be lingering in your kitchen.
